Day 1

Prepare for the absolute rush of adrenalin as you speed through the waves in an inflatable racing boat. Powered by a 50hp Yamaha engine, this full fledged racing craft reaches speeds in excess of 90 kph and will thrill you to beyond belief. Driven by a pilot with over 10 years of experience, you can be rest assured you are in safe hands. Lunch will be served ”South African” style on the beach. Once your heart has calmed down we’re off to Inkwenkwezi Game Reserve for a late afternoon game drive. There you will see the animals as Mother Nature intended, in the wild. Day 2

Pack your camera because we’re off to the picturesque Transkei Wild Coast. A former homeland in South Africa, this stretch of coastline remains untouched and unspoilt by civilization. Whales and dolphins are a common sight and you can spend the entire day on the beach and not see another person. To get there we cross the Great Kei River on the pont (a ferry). We book in at Trennery’s Hotel with plenty of time for lunch. That afternoon you can either relax around the pool or you can take a hike along the beach to see the resting place of the Jacaranda, one of the many ships wrecked along the Wild Coast. This Greek fishing vessel ran aground in the 70’s where it has remained ever since. Then it’s back to the hotel for sundowners and supper.

Qolora GatesWild Coast Cultural Hut on the Wild Coast

Day 3

A gentle rowboat ride takes us through the Qolora Gates where the hidden beauty of the Transkei is found. We take a short hike back through the indigenous forest where you will learn about the traditional healing methods and the medicinal uses of the various trees. After lunch we go on a cultural trail to the local village where you discover what Africa is all about. This is where the time of day is not told using a watch, but by the position of the sun. The Xhosa people enjoy a rich and colourful heritage, with many rituals and customs handed down through the centuries from generation to generation, all of which you will learn about. Before going back to the hotel, we visit Nongqawuse’s Pool. This is the birthplace of the National Xhosa Suicide, which took place during the 1850’s and resulted in the strong Xhosa power being broken in the region. After hearing about this fascinating legend, we make our way back to the hotel where you can relax around the pool or take a stroll on the deserted beach.
